#44 Delete whole word (or whitespace) at a time forward and backwards
Tuesday, February 10 2009
We all edit. Coders really are just really smart typists right? We make mistakes. We edit other peoples stuff, we have brain farts. These tricks teach you to delete fast and accurate. Delete words or whitespace groups forward or backwards. I use this all the time. These are tricks you should add to you daily arsenal. Tricks that you can tease your friends about because they don't know them. Especially the end of line delete next line white space trick in the video. Yeah. It's that good!
Visual Studio Tip / Trick #044 English Transcription:
Today’s Visual Studio video Trick of the day trick #44 was originally posted by Sara Fords in text back on September 2007. The trick is [CTRL]+[Delete] and [CTRL]+[Backspace] so [CTRL]+[Backspace] will delete back words one words at a time and [CTRL]+[Delete] will delete to the right one word at a time. Now this is pretty cool when I come to use it at the end of the line to delete white space so let’s put the bunch of white spaces markers at the beginning of line 9 and assume that you wanted do something like this you wanna to snug up that text and instead of having press Delete Delete Delete…… in order to get that text on the new line the cursor at the end of the line should do [CTRL]+[Delete] will delete all of the white space and bring that text end of your line so [CTRL]+[Delete] deletes one word to the right and [CTRL]+[Backspace] deletes one word to the left. This is confirmed to work in both Visual Studio 2005 as well as 2008.
